Strategic Sales and Marketing Management Consulting
Kye Cheung brings more than 20 years of senior managerial and entrepreneurial experience in the information technology industry, having worked with companies in the telecom, wireless, semiconductor, consumer electronics and internet software sectors. He is currently also a partner at Quoris Capital, a VC fund based in Asia, where he is responsible for sourcing deals and performing due diligence.
Kye’s expertise is in product and brand management, business development and strategic sales and marketing. Although he has managed businesses and functions in Fortune 500 companies such as Intel, Freescale/Motorola, Qualcomm and Verizon, Kye finds start-ups irresistibly satisfying, particularly when he’s helped take them from concept to product realization or commercial service. Previously Kye served as Vice President of Sales and Marketing and was a member of the Executive Management Committee at CommASIC, a San Diego-based fabless semiconductor start-up specializing in low power wireless broadband ASICs for Wi-Fi, WiMAX, and other 4G applications. He launched the company’s flagship semiconductor devices product line which ultimately led to a successful acquisition by Freescale Semiconductors (NYSE: FSL, FSL.B) in 2005. At Freescale Kye was responsible for sales and marketing of Wireless LAN 802.11 integrated circuits (ICs) and platform solutions as well as developing specifications for Freescale’s next generation WiFi product roadmap until the company was acquired for $17.6 billion by a private equity consortium led by the Blackstone Group.
Prior to Freescale, Kye served as Vice President of Product Development for IconnWireless, a wireless module start-up which was acquired by Wavecom (NASDAQ: WVCM) in 2002. In 2000, at Intel Corp., Kye was P&L business manager for Intel’s Personal Connectivity Business Group managing a team of 40 in San Diego, encompassing engineering, marketing, sales, and from 1997 to 2000, Kye was Director of Product and Program Management and a co-founder of NeoPoint Inc. From 1994 to 1997, Kye served as Senior Product Manager at Qualcomm, managing both Infrastructure and Subscriber Product Lines. Kye also served seven years at NYNEX (now Verizon), deploying switched-based and IP networks as part of their emerging technology group.
Kye holds a bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from Massachusetts Institute of Technology and an MBA from Boston University. He is a native speaker of Cantonese.
